Monday January 25, 2010: Awakening II

(Follow on Twitter!)

By now you may well have seen this picture.  If not, I really think it’s one of the most beautiful photos I’ve ever seen… From the dirt and rubble in what’s left of Port Au Prince, more than a week after the earthquake, rescuers pulled a 7-year-old boy named Kiki.  And the second he was free, this is what rescuers saw:

And here’s the CNN video if you’d like the whole story of the rescue and the picture:

That should make your Monday a little brighter.  Puts it in perspective anyway, doesn’t it?

I came across something this weekend that I think should be required reading for every adult.  It’s called The Awakening and its author is the famous and ubiquitous “Unknown.”   It’s so good… such an insightful, inspired piece that instead of just pasting it below, it’s getting its own permanent page.   So when you get a few minutes of quiet time,  read it and see what you think.  I know you’ll like it.  In fact I’d really love to see it go viral.  To read The Awakening, click here

I would like to extend sincere condolences to my dear friend Diana Stapleford on the death of her father, Francis Lightner.  He suffered a stroke last week, and passed away on Saturday night.  Francis was a wonderful guy — always friendly and easy-going.  He will be missed.

Well, I’m learning to live like a diabetic.   A radically modified diet, and a couple of finger sticks every day,  just like Wilford Brimley!  Living will be worth it though…

And don't you forget it!

Here’s hoping your week is full of love, laughter and joy!

Today’s Fun Stuff

  • Tired of the same old breakfast stuff?  This is a job for Mr. Breakfast!  Lots of good recipes here.
  • Here’s a photo gallery of some genuine, real-life sea monsters.  I wouldn’t want to run across one of these guys.  Not that there’s much chance of that…

Have a great day!
